   Upcoming Special Events

Palm Sunday
10:00 a.m. Sunday, March 29

On Palm Sunday we celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Palm branches will adorn our sanctuary and our Sanctuary Choir will offer special music.

Maundy Thursday
7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2

At this candlelight communion service we relive Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples.

Good Friday
12:00 noon-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 3

Our first floor chapel will be fitted for self-guided contemplations of “The Way of the Cross.” Masterpiece paintings by such artists as El Greco, Bosch, and Caravaggio will trace Jesus’ journey from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Tomb. You are invited to come any time between 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m. to spend a quiet, meditative time reflecting on Christ’s sufferings.

Easter Paschal
8:00 a.m., Sunday, April 5

At this service we enter the darkened chapel, reminiscent of the tomb. As scripture is read, the light gradually rises until the proclamation; “He is risen!” is at last announced. At that point all participate in the stripping of the dark vestments and replacing them with white and Easter lilies

Easter Breakfast
9:00 a.m., Sunday, April 5

We will enjoy a full breakfast in our Fellowship Hall. A free will offering will be received.

Easter Worship Service
10:00 a.m., Sunday, April 5

Holy Week comes to a joyous climax as we rejoice in the message of resurrection at our 10:00 a.m. service.

Mission Sunday
10:00 a.m., Sunday, April12

On Sunday, April 12 we will celebrate our annual Mission Fest by welcoming the Rev. Lisa Harris to our pulpit. Rev. Harris is the National Coordinator for the ABC Justice for Children Initiative and the American Baptist Christian Centers. She comes with a passion to bring people as close to God and as close to one another as possible, based on the Great Commandment to love God, neighbor and self. She works with congregations and community ministries to address the needs of children in the most vulnerable communities of our nation. One of her sermons is published in Those Preaching Women: Vol. 4. Rev. Harris will be sharing the story of how the America for Christ Offering reaches out to those in desperate need in our country. After the service she will be joining the pastor’s Sunday School class for a time of question and answers.
